SIHRA's Memorandum of Association states that the purpose of its formation was to "encourage, promote and protect the interests of proprietors and other persons concerned with and interested in hotels, restaurants and boarding houses..." South India Hotels and Restaurants Association was incorporated in 1951 as a company under Companies Act without having any share capital. The objective is to encourage, promote and protect the interests of member establishments. It has been rendering professional advice and assistance from time to time to all its members on topics of vital importance.
